The New Year is a time for resolution, renovation and reinvention and often the best place to start is with your wardrobe. It is the most obvious way to say the world: ‘Pay attention, I am making a change!’ I know when I change my look, or just get a few new pieces, it gives me the strength to tackle anything the day (or year) has to throw at me. So, if you are looking for a little bit of inspiration to spice up your look for 2014, here are my trend predictions for the coming year and some high street picks:
[Alexander Wang – Issey Miyake – Caroline Herrera]
Be prepared to put away your round-toe loafers and embrace a more angular structure when it comes to footwear next year. Anything with a cuff or a missing toe/heel is the way forward and especially if it comes in a well chosen colour combination (monochrome is always good). But, if that is all a little too much for you just pick up a pair of pointed flats, extra credit if they have a cuff!
In 2014, you can forget about the relaxed shapes of the year past and embrace a bit of structure into your wardrobe. Think 80’s power dressing but without the shoulder pads, don’t just be bold with colour, do it with shape.
ORANGE ORANGE ORANGE
This is going to be the colour to help you make the transition from warm autumnal shades to cooler summer tones. Be bold and wear it as a statement piece, the block colour of a dress or a structured t-shirt. It can also be used to brighten up your make-up palette, a coral lip or eyeliner certainly wouldn’t go a miss.
